We often say, “I had planned for such and such by age 30…40, yada, yada… but my plans were laid to waste! I had not expected this. How could this happen to me?” Or blame oneself – “I should have done something , then I would have what I wanted and life would be so much happier…”
Usually, it is some variation of the above – could’ve, should’ve, would’ve cycle. We focus on the rude shocks that Life has revealed, but how often do we stop and think about the sweet surprises and breathtakingly beautiful views that we have stumbled across on our paths?
Chances are, for every lemon that Life handed you, there was an ice-cold, soothingly delicious lemonade or even a cocktail (‘mock-tail’ if you are a teetotaler) that was served to you with love. So whether it is a romantic relationship that has disappointed you, a career path that crushed your ambitions and dreams, or a home buying deal that fell through at the last minute, there were unexpected compliments from good-looking strangers who would love to get to know you better, an out-of-the-blue golden opportunity that a recruiter tells you about, and an even better home waiting for you to ink the deal on.
Allow Life to surprise you…
